About us

We are Macarthur Heights Community Group

Local volunteers working for the benefit of our community since 2019, when MHCG was founded. Our aim is to continue building a thriving, welcoming and safe community in Macarthur Heights where positive values and a strong sense of belonging can grow. We support and encourage residents to take an active role in shaping our neighbourhood and the social activities that bring us together.

2020 – Fitness Equipment at Main Ridge Park
Secured a $40,000 grant to install outdoor fitness equipment. MHCG contributed additional funds to meet budget requirements. The equipment opened in August 2022 and is now a valued community asset.
2021 – Public Transport Advocacy
Lobbied State MP and Landcom for a public bus service for Macarthur Heights. The service has been approved and is scheduled to begin in 2026.
2022 – Park Upgrades
Worked with Landcom to upgrade play equipment at Main RidgePark
2023 – Lake Thompson Delivery
MHCG had multiple meetings with Landcom, State MP and council stakeholders to ensure the Lake Thompson facility was delivered in September 2024.
Our outreach and consultative approach with our community benefits us all

2024 – Boundary Improvements Advocated successfully for UWS to remove fencing separating the university from Macarthur Heights. 2024–25 – Sports Precinct Collaborating with Landcom and Council to deliver remaining promised facilities, including: >Two sports grounds >Multi‑use court >Amenities building with community meeting room >Tree coverage around the sports grounds >Macarthur Trail connection to Mt Annan Botanic Garden Community Events & Local Improvements MHCG continues to organize annual community events such as movie nights, meet‑and‑greets, and clean‑up days. We also work closely with council and stakeholders to address local issues, including: >Reviewing traffic conditions at Goldsmith Ave–Gilchrist Ave >Requesting tree planting (eg: Goldsmith Ave roundabout) >Replacing missing street signs >Removing abandoned cars and trolleys >Cutting overgrown grass in parks and pathways >Replacing faulty equipment at our facilities.
